1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you use SplitEase. This includes:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Your password is processed securely by our authentication provider and is never stored by us. If you sign up with a social provider like Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture URL from them.
- Payment Information: You may choose to provide payment details to facilitate receiving money from other users. This can include your PayPal email address, bank sort code, and bank account number. This information is stored securely and is only shared with other users for the purpose of settling a bill you have created.
- App Data: We store information you create within the app, such as bills, contacts, and transactions you are a part of.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionality of SplitEase.
- Allow you to create bills and track shared expenses.
- Display your provided payment details to other users who owe you money, so they can pay you via external services like PayPal or bank transfer.
- Send you in-app notifications about important events, such as new bills or contact requests.
3. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Users: Your name, profile picture, and relevant payment information (e.g., your PayPal email) will be shared with other users on a bill you are a part of, to allow them to identify you and make payments.
- Service Providers: We use third-party service providers by Google to host our application and store data. They have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
4. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards, including those provided by our infrastructure partner Google, to help keep the information collected through the Service secure. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the security of our systems 100%.
5. Your Choices About Your Information
You may, of course, decline to submit personally identifiable information through the Service, in which case SplitEase may not be able to provide certain services to you. You may update or correct your account and payment information at any time by logging in to your account settings.
